In 2007, O’Rorke developed and implemented a water conservation program for the Los Angeles County Waterworks Districts. We developed a public education campaign providing Antelope Valley, Malibu and Marina del Rey residents and businesses with easy steps and solutions to reduce water usage.
To determine water conservation motivators, we designed a survey to find out where water was being used and how the community perceived their water situation. From these surveys, we created the “Three Easy Ways” advertising campaign, focusing on outdoor water consumption in easy and cost effective ways.
The program launched with a media event at The Home Depot highlighting water use tips and promoting the store’s new native plant section. O’Rorke also secured further partnerships for co-branding and advertising opportunities with like-minded organizations to deliver messages on water conservation.
Our on-target creative was used in radio, television and print advertising in addition to earned media coverage on local and regional television, print and radio. The results were impressive: that summer, water use in the Antelope Valley was cut by 10 percent and by summer 2008, conservation was cut an additional five percent from the previous summer.
