San Francisco Public Utilities Commission

SFGreasecycle

In 2007, O’Rorke was appointed to design, develop and execute a social marketing plan to support the citywide launch of the Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) Biofuel Program, now called SFGreasecycle. The campaign targeted food service establishments and San Francisco residents with a message to reduce water pollution while simultaneously helping protect the climate. After conducting focus groups in English, Spanish and Chinese, O’Rorke developed the bold logo and tagline and all subsequent creative.

O’Rorke kicked off the campaign with a press event, featuring San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, which was widely covered by the Bay Area media, including a front page story in the San Francisco Chronicle. We also facilitated Costco FOG collection events over the holidays and placed media to promote the residential collection opportunity and encourage customers to visit the O’Rorke-designed SFGreaseycycle.org.

For the SF PUC’s Wastewater Master Plan public participation component, O’Rorke is also managing creative for its October 2008 “Big Blue Bucket” community event.
